Let Your Life Speak - 2022

We were lucky enough to welcome John Vincent, Biology and Outdoor Education teacher - live from Peru - to speak to our students in the latest in our ‘Let Your Life Speak’ series.

John spoke to us about his adventures cycling through Peru, including the Andes and Amazon rainforest, accompanied by his adopted Peruvian street dog, Akela.

He also told us about his service projects undertaken with his students, giving back to 300 of the poorest Peruvian communities during the coronavirus pandemic.

Finally, John outlined his three part strategy and tips for dealing with doubts, based on skiing through some of the most dangerous Peruvian landscapes:

  • Prepare what you can.
  • Break things down to bite size chunks to alleviate panic.
  • Develop strategies/partial solutions to prepare for if things go wrong. Scenario plan on what to do if things do go wrong.

He urged students to take chances, reiterating that the skiing trip was among the top 5 experiences of his life and one that he nearly missed out on because of his doubts and fears.

Thank you John for sharing your experiences with us - a true example of Living Adventurously!
