Safeguarding

Jo Leite
Joanna Leite, Deputy Head (Pastoral)
Designated Safeguarding Lead

At Sidcot School we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead(DSL) for the whole school is Mrs Joanna Leite, also the Deputy Head Pastoral.  Mrs Leite is closely supported by Mrs Sarah Rice, the Senior School Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), and Mrs Emma King, the Junior School DDSL. There is also a wider Safeguarding Team providing support across the school, all of whom have completed the Advanced Inter Agency Child Protection training.

The Safeguarding Team ensures that all students’ needs are met across the school.  The whole school staff undergo annual Safeguarding training and are aware of the Child Protection and Safeguarding policy, which is updated regularly to reflect changes in the KCSiE and legislation.  Current safeguarding issues are regularly discussed in school to raise student awareness including during tutor time, the delivery of PSHE lessons and assemblies.

When a serious safeguarding or child protection concern is raised, the DSL along with the support of the Safeguarding team, will ensure that all relevant parties are informed which can include external agencies such as social services and/or the Police.
