Sidcot Uniform Guide

Our school uniform marks out our students as part of the Sidcot family, making sure they look smart and proud both day to day and when they’re out in the community too. Our independent school uniform guidance changes depending on whether your child attends our Junior School, Senior School, or Sixth Form, so we’ve linked to our uniform guides for each school stage below.

Our downloadable uniform booklets are intended to give parents, guardians, and pupils all the necessary information about Sidcot’s regulations around uniform, dress code, and possessions in school. If you have any queries at all, please contact uniform@sidcot.org.uk.

Junior School Uniform Guide

Our Junior School uniform guide is divided into three sections: Pre-School, Reception, and Years 1 to 6.

Pre-School Clothing Guide

We like our pupils to start wearing uniform from Pre-School onwards to help them feel part of the Sidcot School family from the beginning of their time with us. All Pre-School uniform can be purchased from Deane & Sons in Cheddar (you can also order uniform from them online).

Alongside day-to-day uniform items, we also recommend that pupils have outdoor clothing to wear on days they’ll be taking part in Forest School. See our full Nursery clothing guide for everything they’ll need.

Reception Clothing Guide

As pupils move into Reception, our uniform guidance remains largely the same as for Nursery children. Read our full Reception clothing guide for guidance on summer and winter uniform items, as well as recommended games clothing and equipment.

J1 to J6 Clothing Guide

For children in Years 1 to 6 (J1 to J6), our uniform guide is a little more comprehensive, with more compulsory items - such as a school navy blue v-neck jumper - required. Junior School pupils also need more sportswear to reflect the changing curriculum, and a few extra items such as an A4 document wallet to transport homework. Read our full Junior School uniform guide.

Senior School Uniform Guide

When pupils move into our Senior School, the uniform guide becomes more detailed. We want pupils to take pride in their appearance and to look as smart as possible. We have a separate trouser clothing guide and skirt clothing guide where you can see our preferences on fabric, colour, and style.

There is a separate sportswear clothing guide for Senior School pupils, which details the clothing and equipment every student should have - every item needs to be clearly labelled.

Boarding Students’ Clothing Guide

Boarding students will naturally need more clothing than just their Sidcot uniform, such as clothes to wear at the weekends, additional shoes, and pyjamas, while items such as bedding are optional. Find a full list of what Boarding pupils should bring to school with them in our Boarding students’ clothing guide.

Sixth Form Uniform Guide

In the Sixth Form, uniform guidance is more relaxed; one of the privileges of being a Sixth Form student is that you can wear your own clothes rather than uniform. Each Monday, we ask Sixth Form students to wear formal business wear (trouser suits or a tailored dress/skirt and jacket). See our full Sixth Form clothing guidance.

We also have a detailed sportswear clothing guide for Sixth Form students, which covers both compulsory and optional items.

Sidcot School Uniform Measuring Guide

When buying Sidcot uniform, it helps to know what size you’re looking for before you place an order. We have a dedicated measuring guide for blazers, as well as our full uniform measuring guide.

Equestrian Clothing Guide

Our Equestrian Centre is a huge draw for many Sidcot students, and we’re lucky to have such wonderful surroundings for them to explore on horseback. We do require pupils taking part in Equestrian activities to have certain clothing and equipment, which you can find in our Equestrian clothing guide
