Junior School Activities

Sidcot School is situated in a beautiful rural location in North Somerset. The surrounding area means we have ample space for school sports, extra curricular activities, and wellbeing activities for children. We also have links with local community groups, charities and businesses, and arrange school trips throughout the year.

What Matters - Activities for Children

Academic achievement is an important part of any child’s education, but so too are enriching experiences and emotional development. Sidcot School believes that what matters most to our children is not just what happens in the classroom, but what happens outside of it too. Extra Curricular Activities

Extra curricular activities are an extension of every child’s learning experience and we make sure our Junior School students have plenty of opportunities to try new things and develop existing interests. We foster every aspect of our Junior School students’ development by offering dozens of extra curricular activities. These run at lunchtime and after school.  weekends.

Extra curricular activities in the Junior School range from archery and trampolining to maths club and nature club - there’s an extra curricular activity for every student.

    School Sports

With the sprawling countryside of North Somerset as our home, it’s no surprise that our school sports calendar is packed with enriching activities. Junior School students will have PE lessons throughout the week, as well as swimming lessons and games afternoons.

We have a 25m swimming pool, a 3G rugby and football pitch, tennis courts, and a full-size all-weather pitch and athletics field. There is no shortage of opportunity to be involved in school sports at Sidcot. We encourage all children to take part in school sports so they can gain a lifelong love of sport and fitness, and to learn to enjoy the activity itself alongside any potential achievements.

    Outdoor Activities for Children

Alongside our school sports programme, we also have numerous outdoor activities, including Forest School to inspire creativity and a sense of adventure for our Junior School children.

Among the varied outdoor activities we provide, there are a range of environmental clubs as well as archery and hill walking to nurture a love of the great outdoors.

The jewel in our outdoor activities crown is our equestrian facility. Sidcot students can make use of our livery yard and stables, or take riding lessons surrounded by 100 acres of beautiful North Somerset pasture.

    Mindfulness Activities for Children

Our Junior School activities are not only based on outdoor or physical activities. We have a number of mindfulness activities for children who enjoy being creative and considered. As well as promoting a love of music, crafts, or art, mindfulness activities for children are also valuable for the emotional health and wellbeing of our Junior School pupils. These activities will take place in both lessons and as part of the extra curricular activities we offer.

    Junior School Trips

With stunning North Somerset as our home and a host of towns and cities nearby, it’s no wonder that we love taking our Junior School students on school trips. Our staff arrange school trips to galleries, museums, sporting fixtures, and local events.
