Sidcot U13A vs Tockington Manor School

A fantastic afternoon was had by all on our adventure to Tockington on Wednesday afternoon. Previously no Sidcot team had come away with a result against this opponent, so the gents were eager to set the record straight.

The first half was that of a puzzle for Sidcot. In most games possession will win you games, but to us, we just couldn't seem to make use of it within our opposition's final quarter. Some slick turns and agile runs from the likes of Ward and Hann just didn't seem to be enough to break down Tockington's bus-like defense. The half ended 1-0 to the home team after Linnett and Cardale struggled to deal with a route-one ball over the top for Tockington's speedy striker.

After a half-time rally for the boys to play more cohesively and less like individuals, the U13s took no time in finding an early equalizer to make the score 1-1. The half continued with that trend as Radford netted two, following better use of the wide space around the back. But it was the third team goal that sealed victory for the boys, as some quick and accurate passes from Leonard, Tindall-Doman and Greenwood led to the ball being stabbed in within the six yard box making the score 3-1.

Special shout outs go to Oliver Thistlewood, Jamie Shaw and Daniel Robinson for their strong and high-tempo work rate throughout the game.

Player of the match: Fletcher Hann & Cosmo Leonard
