U13 Football vs Queen Elizabeth Hospital School

The sun broke through and the temperature dropped for our match on Failand Sports Ground this afternoon. We were definitely the better team on paper and rather than being cocky we took this position seriously and went into the match with purpose and tenacity. We dominated the play for much of the first half scoring 4 with cracking goals from Oli Yates and Fletcher Hann. QEH scoring 1 following a bit of a lack of communication. So 4-1 to Sidcot at half-time!
The second half was different. A few changes in personnel on both sides created a much more even match and we forgot how to weave our passes to the wide channels instead battling and losing down the centre. They did what we dreaded and scored three to equalise 4-4!

The last five minutes was very very tense with chances in both directions. Flecther Hann was fouled on the edge of the 18-yard box and his free kick was stunning. Curling top corner goal – 5-4 Sidcot.

With one minute to play the ball fell to QEH best play who manged to take it through our defence and in a heart stopping moment, pushed a delightful pass to his team mate who needed only to put his toe on the ball to score and missed! A let off for us but a wonderful game none the less.

Player of the match: Fletcher Hann and Oli Yates
