We are thrilled to be a finalist in the Muddy Stilettos Best School Awards for ‘Inventive Extra-Curricular Programme’ in recognition of our PASS programme (Programme of Activities for Sidcot Students).
Launched in September 2021, the Programme of Activities for Sidcot Students (PASS) has grown to incorporate new activities, feedback from students and parents, and a wide range of engaging activities for our students. The current iteration of our extra-curricular programme offers opportunities that appeal to all students, nurtures personal growth, community spirit, and a deep sense of social responsibility, and challenges students to ‘Live Adventurously’.

Now in its fourth successful year, PASS has become an integral part of school life at Sidcot. This past academic year, approximately 170 diverse activities were offered, averaging 40 per half-term. These included bouldering, bake-off, creative writing, Lego robotics, and jiu-jitsu.
One of our original objectives was to ensure students participated in at least one Quaker Peace and Global Studies activity. We have been delighted to see students sign up and enjoy these activities over the last year, to such an extent that a new activity, Crafting with Nature, has been added to the programme for the summer term. Participants in this new activity will explore our idyllic rural setting, gathering inspiration from nature before sitting down to craft or journal their findings.
Another highlight has been the growth of student-led activities. This past term, Sixth Form students ran the chess club and recently shared their expertise with visiting exchange students from Thailand, fostering positive inter-age and intercultural connections.
James Jones, Head of Sidcot, commented:
“A huge congratulations to everyone for their work in this part of School life. It is great to see that such an imaginative, exciting, and adventurous programme gets recognition like this.”
