Newland College Rugby & Hockey Tour

Last week we had the distinct honor of hosting Newland College from Argentina in a competitive sporting encounter. The event featured a highly competitive rugby triangular tournament, with Brymore Academy also in participation.

In the initial matchup against Newland College, Sidcot faced a formidable opponent that wasted no time in showcasing their proficiency on the field, securing two rapid tries in the early stages of the game. At halftime, Sidcot found themselves trailing by a score of 21-0. However, the Sidcot team exhibited a resurgence in the second half, led by the exemplary performance of Fletcher H, who spearheaded an offensive charge. Fletcher's exceptional skills were on full display as he received a kick and embarked on a brilliant run down the touchline, eluding the last defender to score Sidcot's first try of the match.

This resurgence continued with Al B crossing the try line shortly thereafter to register Sidcot's second try. In the dying moments of the game, Newlands College managed to exploit a chink in Sidcot's defensive line, adding the final play of the match to their tally. The concluding scoreline read:

Newland College 24 - 12 Sidcot School

On the hockey pitch, Newland College exhibited commendable skill and experience, securing multiple early goals. In an effort to inspire a second-half turnaround, Mrs. Gutherie delivered a motivational speech to uplift the Sidcot girls. Despite their unwavering efforts, Sidcot School came up short on the day. Nonetheless, the girls gleaned invaluable insight from the experience, and are eagerly anticipating the forthcoming fixtures in the season.

This exchange marked a splendid occasion for the School, forging new international relationships, cultivating global connections and leaving a lasting impression on all involved.
