We ask all new Swim School swimmers to attend a free 15-minute assessment with one of our Swim Teacher’s to determine which stage lesson is most suitable. Adult swimmers do not require an assessment.

These lessons are the first stage of developing water confidence, learning to be safe in the water and beginning their journey on the Swim England Learn to Swim programme. We recommend that new swimmers to Sidcot attend a free 15-minute assessment session to familiarise themselves with the pool and Swim Teachers. Duckling Awards are included in the lessons cost. Maximum class sizes of four.

Stages 1-7

Moving on from the Pre-Swimmers course and working through the Swim England (ASA) Learn to Swim programme. These lessons work through the fundamentals of swimming and the four main strokes. Maximum class sizes of six. For information on the Swim England Learn to Swim framework and awards visit:

Swim Club

Suitable for swimmers Stage 7+ who are moving on from the Learn to Swim programme, are competent in all four strokes and swim a minimum of 25m in each stroke. We cover skills in all four strokes with competitive swim elements. We work with criteria for the Swim England Learn to Swim Stages 8-10 Swimming framework but do not complete these stages. We do however complete the Rainbow distance awards. More details on both can be found on the Swim England website:

Please note this is a social club and we do not compete.

1:1 Lessons

One to One lessons are available for all ability and age swimmers. These lessons can be beneficial for learning to swim, developing technique or working on a particular swimming element. Children’s lessons will use the Swim England framework as detailed above. We recommend that adult non-swimmers attend some 1:1 lessons before moving onto group lessons, these lessons will be working with the Swim England Adult Swimming Framework – more information.

Adult Lessons

Suitable for aged 18+ who are able to swim but are looking to improve stroke efficiency and/or learn new techniques. The group lessons are small enough (maximum of 3) to allow the teacher to tailor the lessons to each swimmer. There is also the opportunity to practice strokes and gain distance awards if desired.
