At Sidcot, we are justifiably proud of our students’ academic record, and we’re equally proud of their social skills, their emotional intelligence, their resilience, and their determination to make a difference in the world.

It’s no surprise that these personal qualities go together with academic excellence. It’s our experience that curiosity and the confidence to enquire fearlessly - to live adventurously, as our Quaker philosophy puts it - leads children to be better motivated and more at ease with themselves as thinkers and learners. We don’t cram children at Sidcot, because we don’t have to. This is a kind, purposeful place where we educate the whole person for a life of active, responsible citizenship.

Our excellent exam results and leavers’ destinations provide further evidence that a broad and balanced education does not have to come at the expense of academic excellence.

Pupils have a highly developed sense of self, displaying authentic personal understanding and self-confidence without arrogance.

An Independent Senior School For Your Child, From The Third Form To The Upper Fifth

Third Form (Year 7) is the next step on your child’s education journey after their time at Junior School, and our Senior School is here to welcome them - many students join Sidcot from elsewhere at this time, and we focus on nurturing an environment where they can learn and grow together. Our Senior Boarding School welcomes students from Year 7 onwards, bringing a whole new dimension to their school experience.

The Fourth Form (Years 8 and 9) allows a period of consolidation following the settling in period of Third Form. It’s a time for further development of students’ independent learning and one that allows exciting discovery and exploration to take place.

Entering the Fifth Form (Years 10 and 11) can be both an exciting and daunting time for some students as they begin their GCSE journey, but there is plenty of support on offer from familiar staff, every step of the way.

Supporting Your Child Through Their GCSEs And Beyond

Our Senior School students have the opportunity to study a broad range of subjects at GCSE level, from languages to the sciences and courses such as photography and drama.

Many students also get involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award, which encourages them to think for themselves and develop the confidence to tackle problems if and when they occur.

Outside of the classroom, pupils can spend time at our Equestrian Centre, engage with our outdoor learning programme, or join one of our sports teams

In addition, PASS (programme of activities for Sidcot students) is designed to provide our Senior School students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and to ‘live adventurously’, from climbing to kayaking, from horse riding to bushcraft, and from archery to pilates.
