Art and cake!

Two lovely words. The latest exhibition, Printmaking: Print & Process, is opening Saturday 7 November (see below for details) and with that comes an invitation for you to join us for the opening event.

We will be hosting a “Meet the Artists” event in the Arts Centre on Saturday 7 November, 1pm to 3pm. This is an informal event where you can browse the show and chat to the artists over tea/coffee and cake. Everyone is welcome and entry is free.

Exhibition – Printmaking: Print & Process

A broad and informative Printmaking exhibition that promises to be both enlightening and exciting.

Over two floors, this show brings together for the first time five Printmakers, all based in the Bristol and Somerset areas. This alliance will showcase some of the most innovative artworks from their respective portfolios.

Liz Bird and Gail Mason (members of Spike Print Studio in Bristol), Bronwen Bradshaw, Pennie Elfick and Tony Martin (members of Somerset Printmakers and Fingerprint) will demonstrate original printmaking from figurative to abstract.

The show runs until 12 December and is open to parents and the public on Thursdays, 11am to 5.30pm, Fridays 11am to 5.30pm and Saturdays 10am to 4pm for the duration. Please note that on Friday 13 November the show will be closed from 1pm and there will be no access to the Arts Centre due to a private event.

This is one of the most comprehensive and diverse Printmaking shows I have come across and I urge anyone with an interest in art and printmaking to come along. There is something for everyone.

Pressing Year 8s!

Sidcot’s Year 8 Students have been working with Liz Bird (Printmaker from the current show) in Miss Pink’s class over a three-week period. They all got to design their pieces, ink their plate and use the press to produce their own original pieces of artwork. Some of these can be seen on display in the upper corridor area of the Arts Centre.

BBC Radio Bristol

On Wednesday, I’ll be heading to the BBC Radio Bristol studio to be interviewed alongside one of the Printmakers on the Martin Evans show. I’ll annouce here, when it is due to be broadcast.
