Sheep eye dissection
We have been studying light in physics. To understand how our eyes develop light we dissected a sheep’s eye. We got a real sense of the size and shape. We had to be careful when opening the eye because we wanted to retrieve the lens and see if it flipped the newspaper letters upside down (and it did!). The lens of an animal’s eye flips the image upside down, and it travels onto the retina, through the optic nerve and into its brain where it is flipped to produce the correct image. Human eyes work the same way. The eye smelled really bad!
