The Seven Hills Walk - March 2015

Students participating in the annual Tanzania expedition are asked to raise £300 towards the community project which improves local schools through tasks like painting classrooms and constructing desks. The Seven Hills Walk gives an opportunity to collect money through sponsorship and this is hard earned as the walk is a demanding 16 miles with 2,500 feet of ascent and descent.

Starting and finishing at Sidcot, the circular walk visits hills which can be seen from the school grounds. By name the peaks are Callow Hill, Blackdown, Dolebury Warren, Sandford Hill, Banwell Hill, Crook Peak and Wavering Down. No one knows when the walk began but it has certainly been completed for the last twenty years.

This year appropriately seven students did the walk, maintaining a steady pace and completing the route in 8 hours. The weather was overcast but dry with a cool breeze which encouraged us to keep moving.

Congratulations to all the walkers: Anya Cherepanova, Alex Andersson, Cameron Smith, Huw Rushworth, Polina Gromyko, Elizaveta Shavandina and Alessandra di‘Capitani.
