"Boring you might think, but not so! We were shown a dandelion in a pot, and told that we would stitch a representation of it! What? Me? We were presented with calico with a sketch of the plant all ready for us, and then we were taught several stitches. I felt so connected with the past when we were shown Bayeux stitch – the stitch that was used to fill in the characters in the Bayeux tapestry, and over 1,000 years old!"
"Our course lasted two and a half hours, and at 3.45pm we suddenly realised that we still needed to learn another stitch – that’s how time flew! This easy pattern was designed to show children how to stitch, and to explain the workings of the Quaker Tapestry. It did just that, and I wish here had been some children with us to enjoy this session."
