PTA Donation Helps Sidcot Students in the Maths Challenges

In January, the PTA kindly funded the purchase of 30 books to help students develop their problem solving skills and preparation for the UKMT Maths Challenges.

We’ve made sure these are available for students to use as they prepare for the Maths Challenges, and in particular the follow-on rounds. Lifeng Qian and Kevin Zhen each prepared for their Olympiad papers using them, with great success. Lifeng was in the top 500 students nationally for Sixth Form age range, and Kevin made the top 100 for Fifth Form also being awarded a Medal for his work.

The library have helped us set up a Reference section of Maths books; at least one copy of our new books is there for students to access on a drop-in basis.

Our thanks go to the PTA for this wonderful resource, and we look forward to many more successes to come making use of this excellent resource.
