Junior Maths Challenge 2019

Results are in from the Junior Maths Challenge, a national event for students up to Year 8 with over 300,000 entries each year. Certificates are awarded for the top 40% of these entries, and around 10,000 are invited to take part in a follow-on round as well.

This year has seen Sidcot continue its excellent record in the event, with one qualification each for the Kangaroo (around 8000 nationally) and the Olympiad (the top ~1200 students nationally).

The follow-on results came through at the beginning of the holidays, and both were very impressive.

Jessica Barber scored 79 out of a maximum possible 135, putting her in roughly the top 30% of those who qualified. Or put another way, the top ~4000 students nationally.

Chris French scored 31 out of a maximum possible 70, providing two perfect solutions along the way, and putting him around the top ~500 students nationally.

Well done everyone who took part, a new year provides a new opportunity to aim for one step better.
