Grim Tales writing competition

Snippets from a letter received by the Headmaster from Sarah Washer, Editor, Young Writers:

Dear Mr Kilpatrick

Recently your school entered Young Writers' 'Grim Tales' mini saga competition. I am delighted to inform you that a selection of your students has been successful and now have the opportunity to be published within a special anthology.

Thousands of stories from all over the UK [and 21 Sidcot submissions were successfully chosen]. Work has been selected for publication based on imagination, perception, expression and creative use of language. This is a great achievement that you and your students can be proud of.

[Students each received] a letter, a bookmark and certificate of merit.

A copy of the book your students' work appears in, 'Grim Tales – West Country Legends', will be sent to the British Library and further libraries across the UK and Republic of Ireland, providing a lasting record of their achievement.

[The] £500 second prize and £250 third prize, will be awarded once the books in this series have been published. We will also award the best writer in 'Grim Tales – West Country Legends' a £10 Love2Shop voucher upon publication.
