DofE Gold Expedition: Brecon Beacons

Thirteen Upper Sixth students had perfect weather for their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the Brecon Beacons, 12 to 15 September. However, their rucksacks were still very heavy and they walked for eight hours a day on tough routes through the mountains. On the first day both groups had no visible path and saw no sign of human habitation all day. The highest point was Pen Y Fan where they were up in the cloud but there was time to stop and stare at the beautiful scenery elsewhere. They were well justified in feeling proud of their achievement in completing the expedition. It was a pleasure for Tim Tur and I to accompany them.

Congratulations to Megan, Lauren, David, Nic, James and Joe; and the other group, Gaby, Camilla, Jemima and her sister Connie, Harrison, Oli and Sepand.
