A dismal day out for Sidcot’s Art students: Art Faculty trip
In the past week we have taken many of our Sixth Form, Upper Fifth and Pathway students to Dismaland. Here is what a couple of the students thought:
"Compared to the traditional art galleries we normally visit, Dismaland was completely different. It included controversial art pieces, fair ground rides, interactive installations and short films – not to forget the rude staff that wouldn't miss a chance to make us feel as dismal as possible. The sensitive topics that are portrayed throughout the artists' work focus on themes that people would normally avoid due to feeling uncomfortable, however the way the work is presented at Dismaland allowes the public to interact with and discuss these themes and make you think about them."
"I thouroughly enjoyed the trip, I think the interactive aspect made it all the more enjoyable for me and my highlights would probably be the merry go round that references the recent find of horse meat in ready made lasagne meals.” – Molly Pittaway
