Cashmore Word Slam Competition

This term, a selection of students competed in the Cashmore Word Slam. This highly regarded event at Sidcot had four age categories competing: Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, and Year 8.

The competition was set up by Tony Cashmore, a Sidcotian, and was originally a contest to recite French poems from memory. In 2012, this was changed to recognise all three Modern Foreign Languages at Sidcot: French, German and Spanish. For the first time, Senior School students wrote the poems themselves. More recently, the Junior School were invited to take part, and 2022 saw us moving with the times as we introduced performances of spoken word, raps, and even rap battles, as well as poetry!

We were so impressed by everyone's performances, and the hard work that went into creating these pieces.

A particular well done to our winners:

Year 5 - George, Mickey & Oscar (Spanish)
Year 6 - Angel, Liv, & Amelie (French)
Year 7 - Eleanor (French)
Year 8 - Misty (German)
