What do you enjoy about being a governor of Sidcot?

As a retired headteacher, I’m enjoying the opportunity to continue to be involved in education and being part of a strong and friendly community which promotes a holistic approach to learning.

What do you do in everyday life?

I was for many years a headteacher of an independent primary school but am now retired and enjoy my governor role, volunteering with the RNLI and helping my family out with childcare.

What’s most important to you about being a governor?

Being able to remain involved in education, teaching and learning and having the opportunity to give back after receiving so many years of dedicated support from the governors at my school. 

What are you curious about?

The way children learn, receive, understand and process information. 

What surprises you about Sidcot?

As a new governor, I’m sure I’m about to find out!

Do you think you would enjoy being a student at Sidcot? And if so, why?

Yes, I think I would enjoy the strength of community, friendliness and breadth of opportunities.

What does Quakerism mean to you?

A faith/set of beliefs with an emphasis on peace, integrity, honesty, community and tolerance.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

Treat other people as you would wish to be treated and always give of your best in everything you do.

If you had one word to sum up Sidcot, what would it be?

Tolerant.
