We are really looking forward to celebrating the end of year in style with the Junior School children. Below is a list of all of the events taking place.

As we move through next week we will add photos and videos next to each event so you can see what fun the children have been having.

Thursday 24 June - Nursery Reception J1 J2 Sports Day

During the afternoon we are hosting our Nursery to J2 Sports Day on our Junior Sports Field. It will be a wonderful opportunity to highlight all the hard work and progress the children have made throughout this school year.

All children will be participating in a selection of traditional track races and fun relays whilst having the opportunity to earn points for their respective houses. An Agility, Balance, Coordination race will enable children to display their fundamental skills.

Friday 25 June - J3 / J4 / J5 / J6 Sports Day

A firm favourite in the sporting calendar is upon us and what a fantastic way to end our year by displaying all the physical progress the pupils have made! All pupils from J3-J6 will be representing their House throughout the day in a selection of field and track events.

Monday 28 June - recording of the school production ‘What a Year’

J6 will be taking the lead roles in this year’s School production ‘Wow, What a year!’ Children in Years 3 to 6 are supporting the Year 6 children – joining in the songs and adding to the overall performance.

Where to start? Home-schooling, empty supermarket shelves, social-distancing, bubbles, tiers, facemasks, not being able to hug our grandparents…these have been extraordinary and challenging times! But through it all, heroes have emerged and with a strength of spirit, hope in our hearts and a sense of humour, we are coming out the other side.

So, what better way to commemorate our place in history than with a bloomin’ good sing-song!

Tuesday 29 June - Quidditch Day

Quidditch is a fast-paced, mixed-gender sport that is played in communities and universities by hundreds of players throughout the United Kingdom. Seven players on each team compete to outscore their opponents by throwing the quaffle through one of the opposition hoops, defending their own hoops with tackles and bludgers, and catching the snitch to win the game. Although players have to run around with broomsticks between their legs unfortunately these are not the magic kind!

Invented in 2005 in the United States and taking direct influence from J.K. Rowling’s iconic series, the sport had runaway success and Quidditch quickly grew across the country and expanded throughout the rest of the world

Wednesday 30 June - Leavers' Assembly 9-10am - live broadcast

(a recording will be made available to watch at your leisure)

The Leavers’ Assembly is a chance for Year 6 to be reminded of their happy memories at Sidcot Junior School, and for us to celebrate who they are and their journey with them. Proceedings also include the tear jerking Leavers’ Song and the receipt of Sid the Sidcot bear as a memento of their time with us. We hope you will be singing along with us from home.
