International Day of Peace

Today is the International Day of Peace

Each year at Sidcot, we recognise this day and reflect on how we can contribute to a peaceful world and make a difference both locally and globally.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, "Peace is needed today more than ever. War and conflict are unleashing devastation, poverty, and hunger, and driving tens of millions of people from their homes. Climate chaos is all around. And even peaceful countries are gripped by gaping inequalities and political polarisation."

With this in mind, at the Junior School, the children came together on the playing field to ring the Peace Bell and take a moment of silence.

At the Senior School, the Sidcot community took action by holding a Disaster Lunch. This is where the usual School meal is replaced by soup, bread, and fruit, and the money saved through this change goes to a disaster fund. This money will be sent to UNICEF to help support communities in Morocco after the recent earthquakes.
