Inspiring Sidcot Stories | Annabel's Generous Act

The term has only just started and we have already been wowed by our student's passion for helping others and making a difference! One story that has recently been shared with us is from Year 5 student Annabel who is generously planning to donate her hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer.

Annabel’s surrogate mother Wendy has previously made two hair donations to The Little Princess Trust. She was inspired to do so because her own Mum lost her hair during chemotherapy and was profoundly affected by it.

Annabel (J5) has been quietly thinking about following in Wendy’s footsteps for some time and having very carefully considered how she might feel about having much shorter hair, she has decided that she wants to go ahead. She said that no matter how she feels, she knows her hair will grow back and wants to support another child who is going through a really tough phase in their life. She wants that child to have one less thing to worry about.

Annabel’s mum Jo said, “Both Annabel and her sister are kind and generous towards their friends and their immediate community and we feel that it was the initial generosity (of surrogacy) that enabled their lives to begin, which has set the bar for them both.”

This hair will be made into a wig and The Little Princess Trust needs donations to enable this to happen.  If you would like to support Annabel in this generous donation you can do so by following the below link:

Well done to Annabel for supporting this fantastic cause in such a brave way, and what an incredible response from the Sidcot community who have already helped to raise £1600. Annabel is hoping to reach £1700, which is over triple what she had originally hoped to raise. This donation will then be allocated accordingly:

£550 to make the wig.

£150 to pay the professional wig fitter.

£1000 towards better drugs with fewer side effects.
