Sidcot School is seeking to appoint an outstanding and forward-thinking Head of History to lead our highly regarded department into its next phase of development.
History at Sidcot has a strong reputation for academic excellence, innovative teaching and impressive examination outcomes. We are looking for an inspirational classroom practitioner and strategic leader who will build on these strengths, champion high standards, and continue to develop a dynamic and intellectually ambitious curriculum across Key Stage 3, GCSE, A Level and IB.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide clear academic leadership and strategic direction for the department.
- Inspire and develop colleagues through a culture of collaboration, reflection and professional growth.
- Drive outstanding teaching and learning, ensuring stretch and challenge for all students.
- Oversee curriculum development across KS3, GCSE, A Level and IB.
- Promote History as a vibrant and academically rigorous subject within the wider life of the school.
A willingness to teach IB History in the Sixth Form is required. IB experience would be advantageous, though training will be provided as necessary.
Remuneration will be at the appropriate point on the Sidcot scale, dependent on qualifications and experience. This role attracts a Management Allowance and remitted time in recognition of the leadership responsibility.
