Riley Phillips, Year 8, races karts. Last year after finishing 4th in a National Cadet Championship, he moved up a class to the Rotax Minimax series, racing against up to 15 year olds at speeds in excess of 60mph.
2014 was a learning year in the new faster and more technical kart. Riley entered three club championships, each with point scoring races running monthly from March to November. However, Riley has been on the pace from the first race and has consistently been on the podium. Over half term, Riley headed to sunny Wales for the penultimate round of the Llandow Championships. By winning all three heats and the final, he achieved maximum points, which gave Riley an unbeatable lead in the table and he became Llandow Minimax Champion 2014.
Riley and his parents would like to thank Will and Spencer who have spent long days at the track supporting him, and Alex Smith of the PE Faculty for devizing a training programme.
