Upper Sixth Psychology students learn a thing or two at the zoo

On Monday 23 January the U6 Psychology students attended an education experience session at Bristol Zoo. This included the students designing and conducting their own behaviour observation of three species of animals. They designed a behaviour checklist for the species and then carried out two 15-minute observations. The three species studied were the western lowland gorillas, meerkats and the South African fur seals. Students then had to create a bar graph to display their findings which they then presented back to the group. This was an excellent opportunity for the group to apply the psychological research methods which they have been studying as part of their A Level course.
