Upper Fourth student Riley Phillips awarded Championship Winners trophy

At the end of last term, Riley Phillips travelled to Northampton for the Whilton Mill Awards Evening, where he was presented with the 2015 Minimax Championship trophy. Whilton is regarded as the UK's foremost club championship and has links with many motorsport teams and Riley has also received an invitation to visit the new F1 team, Haas, to practice sessions with a British Touring Car team and tickets to the Ford Fiesta Junior Championship at Silverstone.

Over the Christmas break, Riley has been busy testing out some new kit. Due to him growing 30cm last year, he will be moving up to the Junior Class (where a more powerful engine will lessen his aerodynamic issues!)

He will be racing much more aggressive 17-year-olds so will also be working on fitness and strength. This year Riley will return to Whilton Mill, but will also practice at Thruxton for his Racing Driver License – so when he is 14, he can begin the transition to racing cars.

If anyone is interested in karting, or would like to come and watch a race, please make contact. Riley's parents would be happy to help you.
