A group of four young chemists took part in the annual Royal Society of Chemistry's 'Top of the Bench' competition at Bristol University. The team, comprised of Joanna Morley (Lower Fifth), Jack Lewin (Lower Fifth), Zach Townsend (Upper Fourth) and Yaroslav Polosin (Upper Fourth), were given an interesting safety briefing before heading to the labs to carry out some experiments. The day concluded with some excellent and exciting demonstrations involving liquid nitrogen, dry ice and hydrogen-filled balloons to name a few. Unfortunately the team did not win any prizes this time round but had a great experience.
