I am pleased to announce that honey bees have returned to Sidcot. The school's honey bee colonies sadly died out during the winter of 2015/16. With magnificent help from our Maintenance Department, the School apiary has now been relocated to a quiet corner of Belgian Avenue field and I have restocked the apiary with two new colonies reared from my own stock. Already this summer Sidcot students have been involved in looking after the colonies, making beeswax candles and even making a little beeswax furniture polish.
If any parents wish to get involved with learning about and helping with beekeeping at the School, please email me.
