Last week students in Years 9, 10 and 11 were treated to a performance of the play Talbot House and Home from Home. The play told the story of the so called ‘Everyman’s Club’ which provided a place of quiet homeliness to British soldiers in their short periods of respite from the fighting on the Ypres Salient. Talbot House was unusual as it welcomed all men regardless of rank. The chapel built in the attic was used regularly to baptise and confirm soldiers who perhaps found or rediscovered their spirituality while at war. The performance was particularly special for the Year 11 History students who visited Talbot House last summer on the Battlefield Trip.
