West of England Super 6 Athletics, Wednesday 4th July

Sidcot were honoured to be selected to attend the West of England Super 6 Athletics Finals on Wednesday and the Lower Fifth boys and Lower Fourth Girls team, although slightly overwhelmed by the high level of performance, did very well on the day.

A selection of pictures from the day are here and results to follow.

Girls' U12 North Somerset Rounders Tournament, Wednesday 4th July

The U12 rounders team had a fantastic finish to the season playing incredibly well at the North Somerset tournament this afternoon. The girls started fielding and made a few mistakes in the first game against Hans Price but managed to win it comfortably. They then stepped it up and fielded consistently throughout the other two matches, winning the tournament overall. There was also some super batting placement. Well done to Charlotte Harrison and Honey Hann who got nominated as player of the match.

Boys' U15 Softball v Hans Price Academy, Tuesday 3rd July

On Tuesday we held the first ever Softball match for our very keen Lower Fifth boys.

Softball, once again an Olympic sport has been really popular for the last two summers with the students developing a range of skills as well as enjoying a wonderful team environment. The best outcome of our dive into Softball has been the inclusion of students who don't usually play in school teams.

The team had prepared well and Hans Price (also their first game) were as well drilled as us. We started slowly, with the first innings only scoring single to Hans Price three. But we soon settled into our game. We batted at the top of the second, scoring three then denying Hans Price any runs with an amazing double play from Oliver Chatting and Jack Lewin. As we headed into the fourth and final innings it was six-all. We scored two at the top of the fourth, leaving Hans Price three to win and for Sidcot three outs to win. Really close. Unfortunately, a misfield allowed them to run in two and their winning single came soon after.

A great experience and one  that we would like to repeat next year.

Special mention to all of the players;

Adrian Ng
Oliver Chatting
