U13 Netball Tournament, Backwell School Thursday 29th November
A squad of players left for Backwell on Thursday in good spirits. Sadly it was an extremely cold afternoon which was even graced with a flurry of snow. The girls were in a tough half of the draw with some very strong opposition for the local schools. In the first game the girls took a while to warm up both physically and mentally and Clevedon were sharp opposition. They gained a good lead early in the match, which slightly disheartened the girls. The second game was equally as tough but Sidcot approached it with more grit and determination and had a little more ball possession. Sadly it rarely went anywhere near Sidcot’s attacking circle. The third game was against our local rival Churchill. This was a much more evenly contested game. The score was level for most of the Match and Sidcot had a few chances which sadly did not quite go through the net. Churchill had a few lucky chances and scored.
The Final game against Gordano was again much more even. By now both sides were cold and were struggling to hold the ball. There were many missed opportunities from both sides. Gordano again managed to score several times when they got the ball in to the attacking circle.
The Sidcot girls definitely improved their team play and the way they communicated during the afternoon. They remained jolly even though they were all very cold.
