Girls' U14 Hockey v Clevedon School, Thursday 18th January: Sidcot 4-1 Clevedon

This was a really good opening foray into full sided 11-a-side hockey for these girls. On what proved to be a really cold day, the girls acquitted themselves really well.

The girls were really positive and competitive from the outset. The first 5 minutes saw the game flow from end to end and all was very equally contested. There was highly committed endeavour and every ball was chased down and every tackle fought for. Our girls were certainly tenacious in their efforts to try to win the ball.

Passing and movement were good and tackling robust and solid.

Sidcot managed to convert first, with Abigail Bewley slotting the ball home. Clevedon responded with a period of pressure but renewed efforts resulted in a second goal before the break – Alyssa Addison the scorer, followed by a third from Lily Arnold.

To their credit, Clevedon continued to battle to score and did, indeed manage to do so.

Erin Crofts put the result beyond doubt when she converted the fourth.

This was a super performance from this squad. There is much promise here and much to look forward to for the future.

A very well done to all.
