Sixth Form Taster Day 2016 Sixth Form Taster Day 2016

Sixth Form Taster Day 2016

Last Tuesday our Upper Fifth and Pathway students had a day to experience Sixth Form-style lessons. The students submitted option choices and they had the opportunity to see what Sixth Form lessons are like in practice – pictured here are students in a Physics lesson with Andy Darvill. Subjects on offer included our full range of A Level and IB subjects, including new subjects not available at GCSE, such as Psychology, Economics, Theory of Knowledge and Accounting.

The Upper Fifth and Pathway students also had access to the Sixth Form areas of the school, such as the Sixth Form study areas and common rooms. At the end of the afternoon, we all gathered for tea and scones in the Old Library to meet Sixth Form staff and student Office Holders.

The students all said it was a really interesting and helpful day, to see what the Sidcot Sixth Form is like, what the differences are between the Fifth Form and Sixth Form and most importantly, to gain a flavour of subjects they might be taking next year.

In addition, the Taster Day is always a useful day for our GCSE and IGCSE students taking exams, as they can see what they are aiming towards in the future and it helps motivate them, seeing the purpose of all their hard work this term! Thank you to all the staff and students that helped support this event.
