Sixth Form cross-curricular trip to Barcelona: a linguistic, historical and artistic immersion! Sixth Form cross-curricular trip to Barcelona: a linguistic, historical and artistic immersion!

At the beginning of November, 16 Sixth Formers and Sidcot teachers Veronika Germain (Spanish), Nicola Goldhawk (History) and Jo Millar (Art) spent four days in the capital of Catalonia – Barcelona. Students immersed themselves in language lessons, carried out a project to understand the history of Barcelona and Catalonia better, and had the fantastic opportunity to visit two highly regarded art galleries: the Picasso Museum and the National Art Museum of Catalonia, as well as to take in the breath-taking Sagrada Familia. This cultural enrichment found its perfect ending on the last evening spent in this wonderful city: we had the unique experience of attending a very peaceful rally about the voting for independence of Catalonia from Spain. A fantastic time was had by all and there is no doubt that this experience will stay imprinted on our memories for a long time to come.
