Significant step up for Sidcot rugby player

Significant step up for Sidcot rugby player

One of Sidcot's very own Lower Fifth rugby players, Billy Lindsay, recently received some good news from Bristol Rugby Club.

He has been selected out of the 400 boys in the Developing Player Programme (DPP) to be moved up into the Player Development [Silver] Group (PDG).

The PDG is the cream of the boys from the DPP and they are selected on ability and attitude as boys who have the potential to perform at a higher level.

This is a significant step up and we’re delighted that he has been invited to join the group. It’s the first step into the proper academy so very exciting. Billy is chuffed, naturally.

This does mean that he has to travel to Bridgwater every Tuesday and Thursday but it will all be worth it for his development as a player.

Pictured above is Billy playing for Bristol in a recent match against the Rhondda School Elite.
