Sidcot’s Got Talent 2015

Sidcot’s Got Talent 2015

Wednesday 16 December saw the return of the highly anticipated Sidcot’s Got Talent; always a highlight in the last week before the Christmas break. The four houses battled it out in the afternoon to see who had the greatest talent. There were three acts representing each of the houses and a range of talents were showcased; from singing to shadow dancing, drama sketches to instrumental performances. South House even had a collection of four extremely funny joke tellers from Lower Fourth!

Ed Pemberton was a fantastic host for the afternoon and our judges consisted of Matt Williams, Wendy Worley and Roger Starr, who all agreed they had a very tough time deciding upon the winners. They took much longer deliberating than in previous years, but luckily our House rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas proved as popular as ever, with North House proving to have the loudest students!

The quality of the acts was excellent and they all put on very impressive performances. Special mentions went to Sarah Stanley and Kit Lear who opened the show with a fantastic rendition of Shawn Mendes’ Stitches. However, there was only room for three winners, with plenty of house points up for grabs!

3rd place was awarded to Kit Yuan, Lower Sixth, who performed an amazing Chinese dance (EAST House)

2nd place was awarded to a group of Upper Sixth students who performed a comedy sketch (NORTH House)

1st place was awarded to Katie Sinclair, Lower Fourth, who put on a fabulous performance of singing and playing the piano as an accompaniment (NORTH House). Katie also deserves a special mention as this was meant to be a duet but sadly her partner was ill on the day and couldn’t make it. Katie stepped up to the mark and very bravely carried on with the act taking on both roles. Very well done!

Anneka Reebye, Head of North House, was ecstatic with this news as NORTH House scooped up enough house points in this event to go on to win the house points trophy for the Autumn Term. This means that all NORTH House students will be treated to Domino's Pizza during the afternoon break on Monday 18 January. Well done NORTH!

Overall, it was another fantastic event and thank you to all the competitors that took part! We thoroughly look forward to another Sidcot’s Got Talent next year!
