Sidcot swimmer wins gold medal at South West Regional Championships

Lower Fifth student Jasmine Moroney came away from this year’s Annual South West Region Swimming Championships with top honours, winning gold in the 800m Freestyle event.

The South West Regional Championships bring together the best swimmers from across the region with swimmers from Gloucester, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Wiltshire converging on the Plymouth Life Centre for the Championships, which were held over the May bank holiday weekend.

Jasmine swam in seven events at this year’s championships (100m and 200m butterfly and 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle) making several finals and a very respectable 4th in the 400m Freestyle, but it was her best event which was also the last event of the Championships that saw her take 1st place and gold.
