On Tuesday 22 September the Languages Department celebrated the European Day of Languages by hosting two events. Firstly, Year 7 pupils enjoyed a continental breakfast, which they had to order in a foreign language. This was followed by a table football competition between France, England and Germany. The second event was a languages café at lunchtime. Sidcot students with another native tongue taught pupils their own language. Some students even completed the challenge of learning a phrase in all 11 languages. These events were a perfect opportunity to use language in real life contexts outside the classroom and celebrate the wide range of languages spoken by pupils within the Sidcot community.
