Sidcot Equestrian had another busy weekend, this time travelling to Stonar to compete in a one day event. Yasmin Sluijmers (Year 10), Neve Harvey (Year 9) and Sophie Lee (Year 7) competed on Saturday. All three girls rode good dressage tests and were keen to start show jumping. Yasmin rode with great determination, especially given that her horse was particularly nervous of his surroundings. Sophie Lee and Eden were very unlucky to roll a pole but were in a good place for the next phase. Neve Harvey was last in and executed a great clear round. Sophie and Neve progressed onto the cross country course. Both cruised the course with ponies taking all jumps in their strides. Sadly, Sophie earned a technical fault on this phase, however, Neve rode a super cross-country round.
Sunday was the turn of Erin Crofts and Lottie Gunter. Erin and Rosco competing in the 70cm class performed a fantastic dressage test scoring 26, which was one of the best scores of the day. She was very unlucky to have Rosco decide he didn’t like one of the cross-country jumps, but all in all a great team effort for Sidcot.
Lottie Gunter and Rohan were competing in the 90cm class. The pair rode a beautiful dressage test which set them up well for the show jumping.
Again, Lottie and Rohan rode the track with precision finishing within the time and faultless. This set them up well for the cross-country phase. They made it look easy, going clear and within the time. Great riding was rewarded with fifth position for Lottie and Rohan which was a fantastic result.
Well done team Sidcot for all your efforts. The team now have one week remaining to train for the big event: ‘Hickstead’, where we have both team and individual riders competing for the National Schools Arena Eventing Title. Wishing Neve Harvey, Lottie Gunter, Caoimhe Collery, Henry Blair and Sophie Lee the very best of luck.
