On Monday 5 December the Sixth Form Psychology classes attended the Science and Pseudoscience Conference at the Colston Hall in Bristol. The students were introduced to top speakers in the field of psychology, in lectures based on ‘science and pseudoscience’, ‘what is the point of science?’, ‘bad science’ and ‘dance hormones and thinking.’ In addition to this we were taught about ‘the science of magic’, and hypnosis. The lectures themselves were interesting and somewhat myth busting, with helpful examinations of case studies throughout. Highlights of the day included audience-wide participation into the effect of dance and a demonstration of live hypnosis!
