Lower Fifth Philosophy and Ethics Trip to Buckfast Abbey

Despite the rain, the GCSE Philosophy and Ethics trip to Buckfast Abbey last Monday was a great success. We learned from a Benedictine monk about the history of the Abbey, how you become a monk and how monks live. The interactive RE Connect exhibition provided plenty of food for thought about issues such as how best to spend £10, what the biggest question might be and how extensive modern day slavery is. In the afternoon, students thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful Abbey Church, whilst answering revision questions, to the dulcet accompaniment of the organ!

All in all a very good day. I am grateful to Nicola Goldhawk and Charlotte Manser for their invaluable support and great company on the day.
