Before half term we were fortunate to have an impromptu visit and talk from Kathleen Dewitt from Yazda. Yazda work to support the Yazidi community to recover from the genocide in 2014 at the hands of ISIS, and to try to prevent such atrocities from occurring in the future.
Kathleen shared her humanitarian role working with the Kurds and Yazidis in northern Iraq. It was a fascinating, moving insight into life in Kurdistan. The meeting was well attended by staff and members of the local community.
