This Wednesday (23 November) we were delighted to host Jo Berry, a speaker in our series of early evening open seminars hosted by The Centre for Peace and Global Studies at Sidcot School intended to open debate and discussion on contemporary global issues.
When an IRA bomb, planted in the Grand Hotel, Brighton killed her father, Sir Anthony Berry MP, Jo had a choice. She could choose to harbour hatred and anger-craving revenge, or seek understanding and so bring peace back into her life. In 2000 Jo met Patrick Magee, the bomber, and from that initial 3 hour meeting came a life long journey together speaking and demonstrating their ability to see each other’s humanity, dignity and respect.
The audience was visibly moved by Jo’s courage and insights to the challenges she faced.
