Week Ending Friday 15th December
Sidcot Saturday students have been busy in the 3D Art room, glazing ceramic baubles for Christmas. The group used a range of glazing techniques and lustres to embellish these porcelain pieces. The last kiln load will be ready just in time for the end of term! The results range from comedic illustration to fine decorative work as shown here by Anne –Marie.
Students have also been involved in the now customary annual reindeer painting competition. This year the whole of the Lower Fourth took part in lesson time, and the Reindeer decoration was based on the work of famous artists, so some research had to be done in advance. The competition was judged by a group of our sixth form art students, and the photo shows the three winning entries; Naomi House, with first prize, Alistair Kerr-Smiley, who came second, and in third place, with his Mondrian reindeer, Tomtom Lloyd. Congratulations to all three.
In the after school photography activity, Third from students have been raiding the drama department costume cupboard to find outfits for photoshoots, although this particular session turned more Harry Potter than Christmas…
