Week Ending Friday 13th October
Visiting the Arnolfini
On Tuesday we took all our Lower Fifth artists on a trip to Bristol. Starting with the open exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy, which is always vibrant and eclectic, moving from there to the Bristol City Museum, which has a fabulous Art section with a very wide representation from early to contemporary art, and then on to the Grayson Perry exhibition at the Arnolfini, via a walk through the centre of the city to find the famous graffiti.
The trip will form the inspiration for the start of students' GCSE portfolios, and we are hoping and expecting that all students will do a write up of the day in their sketchbooks or on their websites.
We were blessed with wonderful weather, and it was a real pleasure taking Sidcot Students out.
We highly recommend the Grayson Perry exhibition which is on at the Arnolfini until December.
Lower Fourth Art students are working collaboratively in the creation of ambitious large coil pots. In pairs, students have been learning to construct with coils and respond to the challenges of working at this scale. We are keeping our fingers crossed that they make it safely through the firing and look forward to sharing the finished glazed pieces with you next half term.
