Week commencing 5 October 2015
The Upper Sixth Art trip to Oxford last Friday was a great success. Students started off in the Museum of Modern Art, which is currently showing exhibitions by the contemporary artists Kiki Kogelnik and Josh Kline. The latter work was very political, fitting well with the exhibition of Katy Bauer’s work that is in our own Sidcot gallery.
Students then had a choice of either the wonderful Pitt Rivers collection, or the sublime Ashmolean museum, my two most favourite collections, and some students managed to get to both.
There are two more trips scheduled before half term, one for Lower Sixth students to the Hauser and Worth gallery in Bruton, and the other, on Thursday October 15, is the Upper Fourth Art trip to the New Gallery in Walsall (more about this next week).
Three of our Upper Sixth students from last year have their work on display currently in the Wells City Museum, alongside work from other local senior schools. If you are near Wells, please pop in and have a look. Our students are Camilla Dolman, Meggie Settle and Una Wood. All three received A* grades for their A Level portfolios.
