If you have not yet managed to see the Upper Fourth and IB Art exhibition in the Sidcot gallery, you still have a chance. The two ink drawings here are by one of our Upper Fourth students, Maeve O’Neill.
Also pictured here are a couple of really successful pin hole photographs, taken on film by two lower fourth students and a third form student who attend the weekly darkroom photography activity on Wednesday evenings. This activity will continue all term, along with the glass making activity after school on Tuesday, the printmaking activity after school on Thursday, and the life drawing class (which is open to adults) after tea on Thursday. The department is also open at lunch times for students to come and get on with their own art projects.
There are approaching deadlines for our examination students – the GCSE coursework portfolios have to be complete and handed in by 9 May, and the A Level work deadline is 16 May. The timed A Level examination will be three days: 11, 12, and 13 May.
Finally, as mentioned in the last newsletter, we have the very exciting prospect of a schools only visit to the opening of the new Tate Modern extension, which will be on June 16. As there will be a big press presence on this day, all students will have to have photo clearance – we shall be sending a letter to parents and guardians shortly.
