Week ending Friday 14 October
I posted a few works by Sidcot art students in this newsletter a week or so ago, which we have entered into an open exhibition in Wells, and I have the pleasure this week of announcing that one of our students, Lucy Smart, has won a prize for second place in the student category of this exhibition – the Chubb Bulleid Prize – well done Lucy!
The exhibition, which is the Wells Art Contemporary is on view in the Bishops Palace, Wells, until 22 October – well worth visiting! their website is here www.wellsartcontemporary.co.uk
Also worth visiting are the venues that we took all our Lower Fifth art students to earlier this week. We started with the current open exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy, which is a wonderful and eclectic mix of the contemporary and the traditional. Then we visited the Bristol Museum for some more traditional art, and finally, after touring some of the amazing street murals that Bristol is rightly famous for, to an exhibition called Daphne Wright: Emotional Archaeology at the Arnolfini.
